ABSTRACT
In this article the author dwells on the issue of the English language as a universal tool of professional communication. The author provides data on a leading position of English and of its role for business. To show the important role of English in logistics, the article answers the following questions: what the number of main academic terms in logistics is, how they are distributed by logistics spheres, what terms are most used, what fields logistics is connected with, how many terms logistics adopted from other fields of knowledge, whether logistic terms follow the requirements of an ideal term. The study was conducted by a lingual-statistical method of an English logistics dictionary and authentic texts. The author prompts a conclusion that English skills in logistics are the key to business success.
