ABSTRACT

Over the past decade, the Internet has significantly evolved, it connects people, systems and applications. Cloud computing technologies unite the whole world; logistic activity is not an exception. At present, any enterprise solves logistics tasks. With cargo transportation, such tasks can be solved more quickly, giving companies and their customers a single platform for interaction or cloud services. Recently manufacturers and suppliers of logistics services have been using cloud computing technologies more and more to reduce their costs and optimize business operations.

Cloud computing technologies have a huge impact on modern economy. This article considers the role of cloud technologies as a tool of logistics outsourcing in the transportation market as due to information and Internet technologies development, it is becoming increasingly possible to introduce the latest techniques in logistics. To assess the impact of cloud services, the main advantages and disadvantages of cloud logistics, as well as the prospects for the development of cloud services in domestic logistics activities are highlighted.

Various innovative technologies allow transport operations to proceed smoothly and quickly. At the same time, cloud computing technologies in logistics do not only increase the reliability and efficiency of operations, but also provide a reduction in transportation costs. Using cloud-based systems, logistics providers receive an effective planning and supply chain management tool to improve the level of customer service.

ABSTRACT

The article lays out the online survey results among 30 companies on logistics outsourcing. The survey reveals different perception of drivers and logistics market perspectives between logistic service providers and their clients. Bridging this gap in understanding will help to create stronger relations and push the development of logistics outsourcing market further. Moreover, solid foundation for such development: trust among parties and maturity of a logistics market already exist. This article will be of interest to logistics experts, top and middle management of companies, researchers of economics, outsourcing and logistics.

ABSTRACT

The article discusses specifics of storage and  material handling processes of e-tailers’ goods at the 3PL’s warehouse considering in the first place fashion retail. The authors outline major steps of the processes in question as well as requirements for their fulfillment. Possible methods of order picking and packing operations, that constitute the most complicated part of material handling process, have been reviewed along with the comparative analysis of their benefits and disadvantages. The article features essential requirements for a 3PL’s logistics infrastructure when it comes to providing services to e-tailers. In addition the authors examine specifics of warehouse services tariffication in case of internet retailers

ABSTRACT

The paper is devoted to the evolution of logistics outsourcing in Russia. It describes the main historical stages of contract logistics market establishment and development. The major economic, political and technological factors affecting the state of the logistics outsourcing market in Russia are analyzed. It is shown the structure of logistics outsourcing market the elements of which are defined via such types of activities as freight forwarding, warehousing, customs and other services. The dynamics of Russian and foreign logistics companies presence is specified as well. The activities of logistics service providers in the Russian market are exemplified
