ABSTRACT

The article analyses the following current trends in the retail development: changing consumer behavioral models, evolution of strategies and policies of chain retail companies in the field of pricing and promotion, conflict-forming factors of interaction with suppliers and category management, the dynamics of basic elements of the goods costs, the role of digital technologies and the impact of COVID 2019 on retail organization. The current problems of logistics and marketing in retail chain companies in their relationship and interdependence were additionally identified and systemized. A list of indicators, methods of calculation and tools for their analysis and interpretation were developed basing on the determined trends and the study of scientific and business literature, reviews and research, classic works in logistics and marketing, the results of the conducted survey of managers in Russian Federal retail chains and FMCG companies. These indicators are recommended for the preparation of management decisions in marketing and logistics planning at cross-functional and cross-organizational levels.

ABSTRACT

The internet retail development entails changes in supply chain structure, as well as the need for a complex logistics service for online retailers. The logistics providers can cope with these challenges and changes. The author justifies the expediency of this cooperation. The justification is based on several points: availability of a logistics provider infrastructure, additional services for internet retailers in the interaction with 3PL-provider, transaction costs reduction for internet retailers, scale economies in logistics service for online retailers, the current situation in the market of logistic services etc.

Based on the analysis of references the author notes that insufficient attention is paid to the logistics service development for internet retailers. As a result, the author has developed a procedure of the logistics service system development for internet retailers and the requirements for its implementation by a service provider. The special attention in this procedure in addition to the process requirements and logistics infrastructure formation is paid to the development of 3PL-provider services standard.

ABSTRACT

The article examines topical issues of information and analytical solutions for assessing the management affect on the functioning of retail network operators supply chains in order to increase the profitability of the business. For this purpose, special attention is paid to the use of visual analytics information systems, Visual Data Discovery (VDD).

It is crucial to note the importance of creating a harmonious man-machine complex, providing a synergetic effect in improving the efficiency of supply chain management of the logistics network.

Solutions are suggested for   a number of analytical tasks to identify trends in the functioning of supply chains, as well as the assessment of control effects on the logistics network using matrix methods of analysis is proposed.

The purpose of the work is developing solutions for the creation of human-machine complexes of information and analytical decision support in the supply chain management of retail network companies.

According to the author, in modern conditions, it is extremely difficult to achieve high-quality supply chain management, and as a result, it is difficult to create competitive advantages of a company without information and analytical support for the management of logistics processes in a network trading company.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with different approaches to the design of the distribution network, developed by a number of Russian and foreign researchers, and the applicability of these approaches to problems of network optimization in retail companies. The relevance of the article creates by the role that logistics plays for businesses in Retail, and the possible effect on the value of logistics costs and service levels that can be achieved with the use of modeling tools and logistics networks optimization. In the first part of the article, the problem statement and the relevance are described in detail. In the second part, the author presents a comparison of the five most wellknown and commonly used approaches to the distribution network design, using a specific set of comparison criteria. In the conclusion, the author analyzes the specifics of the selected approaches and how it can be improved in order to adapt the algorithms to network design problem in Retail. As such, the following areas of improvement are mentioned:

1. Consideration of strategic factors specific to the retail industry, which affect the design of distribution network.

2. Segmentation of the distribution network into regions, product categories, formats of trade and / or distribution channels;

3. The combination in a single algorithm of common sequence of actions for network design with mathematical optimization techniques

ABSTRACT

Despite the technologies development  focused on material flow management improvement in retail, the problem of poor on-shelf availability (OSA) is still the main challenge for both producers and retailers. The difficulty to increase the availability of goods is associated with a lack of clear understanding of its low value causes. On the one hand, current out-of-stock causes’ groupings reveal a different degree of problem elaboration in the literature. On the other hand, they help to clarify a general viewpoint on the problem in the academic sphere and to explore the factors influencing OSA.

OSA may differ significantly for different categories of goods, variously affecting retailer performance. Management of goods with limited shelf life, i.e. “Fresh”, is the most problematic from material flow management standpoint. Poor OSA causes for fresh food are grouped in the article. The classification takes into account the characteristics of goods with limited shelf life and the specifics of a retailer that use automatic replenishment stores’ system. This classification aims to be the first step in the “Fresh” on-shelf availability management.

ABSTRACT

The analysis of logistic processes optimization possibilities in the retail network on the Russian market. Direction of inventory
management in the supply chain of X5 Retail Group was selected for optimization. In research it is show the rationale for the choice of IT-solutions to the S&OP methodology implementation. Three standard modules on the basis of JDA's technology (JDA Demand, JDA Promotions Management & Optimization, JDA Fulfillment) were used for configuration of the simulation model. In research results of a simulation model are presented, which prove achievable goals to reduce inventory level in the supply chain and reduce index out-of-stock.
