ABSTRACT
The paper examines the issues of high costs for freight transportation in Russia. Analysis of demand structure for freight transportation and tendencies of tariff policy changing on railway transport is made; the assessment of economic preconditions for this type of transport transition to rendering complex logistic services is given.
