Rules of scientific articles funneling, review and publication in theoretical and analytical journal «Logistics and Supply Chain Management”

Our publishing house reviews all incoming materials, which are corresponding to its subject, with the object of expert assessment. All reviewers are acknowledged experts in the reviewed contribution field and have published several articles on this topic during last 3 years. Reviews remain deposited in our publishing house and editorial department within 5 years.

Our editorial department forwards review copies of submittal and substantiated refusal to authors. Moreover, we are obliged to send review copies to Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation if there is a corresponding request in our editorial department.

Articles consideration and publication procedure in the scientific and analytical journal “Logistic and Supply Chain Management

Stage #1. Manuscript preliminary assessment

The article assessment is brought into action in the context of:

  1. Compatibility with the remit of the journal.
  2. Novelty and originality: the investigation results which are presented in the manuscript should not be published in other issue (periodical and non-periodical, scientific or educational edition) and in the Internet. Citation rules violation (plagiarism and paraphrase) and self citation are understood as sufficient basis for the refusal of the manuscript publication.
  3. Compliance with the requirements of the manuscript layout (for more details see in the section “Requirements for the manuscripts layout”).
  4. The completeness of provided information.

The author should provide the following materials to the editorial staff complementary to the manuscript:

  • The article card;
  • The photograph of the author(s): it should be colored portrait with the size which is not less than 500 KB;
  •  The abstract (for more details see in the section “Requirements to the articles’ abstracts”);
  • 2 external reviews with the English translation.

As the result of preliminary assessment, the article can be rejected or recommended to correct identified shortcomings. In this case the author (authors) receives the letter with substantiated reasonable refusal and/or recommendations which can help to improve the manuscript.

Stage #2. Manuscript reviewing

After passing Stage #1 the manuscript is sent to at least 2 experts, who are the members of scientific and editorial board. Additionally, the editors office reserves the right to engage reviewers, who are not the  members of scientific and editorial board but appear to be acknowledged experts in the investigation field declared by author(s). Reviewing is carried out anonymously: the information about authors is not reported to the reviewers in order to provide the manuscript assessment objectivity.

Based on the expert review and the content of the manuscript the scientific editor of our journal makes the final decision regarding the publication. The article can be rejected or recommended to correct identified shortcomings. In this case the author (authors) receives the letter with substantiated reasonable refusal and/or recommendations which can help to improve the manuscript.

Reviews remain deposited in our publishing house and editorial department within 5 years from the date of the manuscript submission by the authors.

Stage #3. Order and duration establishment of the manuscript publication

In case of positive decision-making the author (authors) will receive information about duration guideline of the manuscript publication. It depends on the journal release frequency (6 times a year) and editorial calendar.

Stage #4.  Check of the articles’ layout

The coordination of the final article layout with the author(s) is the required step. The author assumes the responsibility for the article content when he or she confirms its layout accuracy. The coordination period is 3 days from the sent date of the article by an e-mail address which is indicated in the article card. If the coordination period is disturbed, the author’s pretensions concerning the article layout are not considered.

Requirements for the manuscripts layout

 The article volume should be not more than 1-1,5 author’s sheet (40-50 thousand characters including spaces). The publication order of the material which exceeds mentioned parameters can be discussed individually.

Common requirements

  1. The manuscript should be sent as an electronic file in Microsoft Word format.
  2. The manuscript front page should contain the article’s title and abstract in Russian and English (for more details see in the section “Requirements to the articles’ abstracts”);
  3. The page size is A4 with the standard margins;
  4. Line spacing should be “single”;
  5. Pages should be numbered;
  6. The font is “Times New Roman”, the font size is 12, line spacing should be “single”;
  7. Automatic hyphenation is forbidden;
  8. The subtitles should be in bold, and the examples, comments and definitions should be in “italics”.

Requirements for the graphic materials’ layout

All visual elements in the manuscript (such as graphics, diagrams, charts, algorithms, photographs and screenshots) should be marked with the note “Picture” and should have consecutive numbering. The picture’s numerical order and title should be set under the picture.

Such visual elements as photographs and screenshots should be presented as self contained file with the size not less than 500 KB.

Other visual elements such as graphics, diagrams, charts and algorithms should be sent as self contained file which allows editing.

Requirements for the calculation format

When the calculations are prepared in written works it is needed to avoid the description in the text if it is possible. Instead of it, it is necessary to use analytical tables where the comprehensive view of calculation stages, units of measurement and results’ structure is conceivable.

Requirements for the tables’ format

The tables should have consecutive numbering. The table’s numerical order and title should be set above the table. It is necessary to avoid the big volume of text in the table if it is possible. Instead of it, the author can use arbitrary symbols and abbreviations.

Requirements for the formulae’s format

The formulae should be placed as separate lines in the centre of the sheet or within text rows. It is recommended to place short, simple and non significant formulae in the text. The most important formulae as well as long and complicated ones which contain summation, product, differentiation and integration signs should be placed in separate lines.

The signs and numerical factors explanation which are included in formula should be placed directly under the formula (if they have not been explained in the text before). The explanation of each sign should be placed as a new line in such consequence as signs are used in the formula. The first line of the explanation should start from the word “where” without two-spot after it.

All formulae should be numbered. The numbers should be in Arabic numeral in round brackets near the right page border.

Formulae should be prepared with the help of formula editor “Microsoft Equation”. It is forbidden to provide the formula as a picture. It is necessary to use only Latin and Greek letters, Arabic numbers and mathematical signs in formulae.

Requirements for the abbreviations’ format

 The first usage of abbreviation should be pointed in round brackets after the full name. Then they should be used in the text without the expansion. If there are terms in English and the article is in Russian, it is necessary to give the translation.

 Requirements for the links’ and references’ format

The materials in the references list should be placed in alphabetical order. It is necessary to place the authors’ surnames and titles (if the author is not pointed) strictly alphabetically. While formatting the references list it is needed to point all book essential elements: it is author’s surname and name, book title, publisher’s imprint and the number of pages. For the articles, which are published in periodical it is necessary to point out the publication name, the volume number, the year and tenable pages. In case of the usage of electronic resources as the references, it is needed to point out the link in round brackets after main requisites. They are the author and the title.

If the author repairs to citation the quote should be placed in quotation marks. Then it is necessary to point the link to the reference in the references list and the page number, where the cited text can be found, in square brackets.  If there is a link to the reference without the quotation it is enough to point the author’s surname and the year in round brackets in compliance with the reference list.

Requirements to the articles’ abstracts

The manuscripts provided to the editorial staff should include the abstract which consists of 150-300 words (it is about 2000 characters with the spaces) with the following structure:

  1. The justification of the investigation relevance;
  2. The explicit statement of the problem or the list of main questions which come under review in the article;
  3. The short summary for the used methodology;
  4. The concise treatment of  main conclusions and research results.
